hot pot, awesome

@ 津津锅 gourmet noodle bowl

after having great spicy (麻辣) hot pot at least once a week while living in beijing, i was on a mission to find a hot pot place here in seattle. many thanks to a friend who introduced me to this taiwanese restaurant, which not only serves tasty taiwanese dishes, but also ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT HOT POT . (since introduced to this place, i’ve been back @ least 6 times within a couple months, & am already known by the 3 ladies who serve the floor)

enough writing, picture time.

[for those who do not know of hot pot, it is really just a pot of boiling broth (either clear, spicy, curry-flavored, hot & sour, etc) that is placed @ the center of the table for all to share. truly a family-friendly eating experience, thinly sliced raw meats and veggies, tofu, & noodles are provided to be cooked by the eaters within the boiling awesomeness. dipping sauces, fresh green onions, cilantro, garlic are provided for enhanced tasty goodness.]

the hot pot served @ gourmet noodle bowl is most popularly served in a fashion that, in mandarin-chinese, is dubbed after mandarin ducks (鸳鸯), because the male and female are symbolic of monogamy – “you can’t have one, without the other” – so, the pot is split down the middle with a barrier, one-half is a clear broth & one-half is spicy.

all-you-can-eat = endless meats, veggies, noodles.

& enjoy w/ a light, refreshing chinese beer, tsingtao

The self made sauce ingredients makes the eating experience that much more enjoyable. Expensive beer though….
